8 REASONS TO LOVE VERTICAL BLINDS
YES!!! We get it. Vertical blinds aren’t the sexiest window treatment. Often overlooked, often underappreciated, vertical blinds are some of the most practical window treatments around.
In case you’ve never seen a vertical blind, firstly, welcome to Earth – where have you been? Vertical blinds are a popular type of window blind that consists mainly of a headrail and vertical strips of PVC or fabric called Slats / Vanes. The headrail stretches the length of the window and the Slats hang from it. They are drawn across the window by cords, and a chain control which also allows them to be tilted too.
Vertical blinds are great – and we’re not just saying that because we sell them. They’re incredibly diverse, capable and useful thanks to their unique way of covering a window.
Now you know what a vertical blind is, here are the advantages!!
1. Great for patio doors
If you’ve got a large glass patio door, the chances are shading it is a bit of a struggle. Most often you want to shade the glass whilst still having access to the door. A vertical blind is ideal as you can draw the blind right up to the door and still have access. Any other blind would have you ducking underneath it or adjusting it every time, which leads us neatly into point #2.
2. Perfect for large windows
While on the subject of patio doors and large windows, nothing comes close to looking as well suited and classy as a vertical blind in a long window. For long windows venetian blinds can become quite heavy to operate and roller blinds look like a solid block of colour that some people don’t enjoy. Vertical blinds are made from slats / vanes, and these hanging strips of fabric helps to create a gentler effect for window shading.
3. They make your ceiling look higher
It is a well-known fact that vertical lines in interior design give the impression of height in a room. The same occurs with vertical blinds. To save you from needing to wallpaper your small room in stripy wallpaper, utilise a vertical blind to gently suggest height, especially when running across floor-to-ceiling large windows and patio doors.
4. Easy to control sunlight
A Decor Express vertical blind provides similar levels of tilt and angle seen with venetian blinds. It is possible to actually block sunlight whilst still being able to see outside, depending on the position of the sun, of course.
Vertical Blinds Your Style! Your Colour!
You’ll never struggle finding a vertical blind to match your room from Decor Express.ca. We’ve got plenty of colours to choose from, with plenty of variation between vinyl, aluminun and fabric to suit any taste. We have room darkening slats that will cut out any light from penetrating directly into your room.
6. Made with quality materials
The components of a Decor Express.ca vertical blind are top quality. Built to last and made of quality parts commonly used in demanding environments such as offices and commercial premises, these vertical blinds exude superiority.
7. Easy to Clean
Any vinyl window treatment will be a breeze to clean. Whether it’s a vinyl shutter or vinyl vertical blinds, cleaning shouldn’t require much more than a damp cloth (and a minimal amount of elbow grease). If you elect to go with a vertical blind with fabric vanes as opposed to vinyl vanes, cleaning will be a little more difficult. That said, due to their design, vertical blinds don’t typically accumulate dust and dirt in the same way that standard, horizontal blinds or shades do.
8. Affordability and Inexpensiveness
Vertical blinds are one of the most affordable window coverings. If you’re looking at comparable products – such as a roller shade panel track system, a woven wood panel track system, or a cellular shade vertical slider – vertical blinds will be priced substantially lower. Even if you’re considering using vertical blinds for a standard window (and not a sliding glass or patio door), they’ll still be one of the most affordable options on the board.
So there you have it! That’s why we love vertical blinds. If you’ve fallen in love with vertical blinds all over again, Please contact us at Decor Express to schedule a free in-home consultation.
Mix & Match. Vertical Blinds & 2″ Horizontal Blinds
Why not choose both?
Pairing vertical and horizontal blinds together in your home creates a beautiful aesthetic while meeting the different needs of your windows and Patio doors.
For the perfectly coordinated look, use the 2″ Vertical on your door and the matching 2″ Horizontal on other windows in the same room. We also have 3 1/2″ verticals. Use the 3 1/2″ vertical on your patio door. Use the 2″ Vertical on large windows and the 2″ blind (horizontal) on the smaller windows.
